Representing Measures for Points in a Uniform Algebra

Recent years have seen much effort put into attempts to develop an "abstract" function theory. In the complex domain, this has led to the study of the structure of uniform algebras. A uniform algebra 31 is a family of continuous complex-valued functions on a compact Hausdorff space X, which contains the function 1, which is closed with respect to the algebraic operations of addition and multipl...

Gorenstein global dimensions for Hopf algebra actions

Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra and $A$ an $H$-bimodule algebra‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we investigate Gorenstein global dimensions for Hopf‎ ‎algebras and twisted smash product algebras $Astar H$‎. ‎Results from‎ ‎the literature are generalized‎.

Cache Probabilistic Modeling for Basic Sparse Algebra Kernels Involving Matrices with a Non Uniform Distribution

A probabilistic model to estimate the number of misses on a set associative cache with an LRU replacement algorithm is introduced. Such type of modeling has been done by our group in previous works for sparse matrices with an uniform distribution of the non zero elements. In this paper we present new results focusing in different types of distributions that usually appear in some well-known rea...

Shadowing by Non Uniformly Hyperbolic Periodic Points and Uniform Hyperbolicity

We prove that, under a mild condition on the hyperbolicity of its periodic points, a map g which is topologically conjugated to a hyperbolic map (respectively, an expanding map) is also a hyperbolic map (respectively, an expanding map). In particular, this result gives a partial positive answer for a question done by A. Katok, in a related context.

On Uniform Bounds for Rational Points on Non-rational Curves

We show that the number of rational points of height ≤ H on a non-rational plane curve of degree d is Od(H 2/d−δ), for some δ > 0 depending only on d. The implicit constant depends only on d. This improves a result of Heath-Brown, who proved the bound O (H2/d+ ). We also show that one can take δ = 1/450 in the case d = 3.
